Nicaragua Day 3

DSC_0261Today we arrived to the worksite after a hearty breakfast of rice, beans and scrambled eggs to continue working on the addition to Valentine’s church. Some of us bent, tied, and formed rebar braces used to support columns. Others finished painting the roof of the existing building, and others helped mix and pour concrete. We had to take a 20 minute break to allow a short monsoon to pass but we quickly returned to the task at hand. We worked a little longer than usual today pouring the concrete to form the support columns for the building. It was hard work but it was an important step to complete before we rest from work tomorrow.

Today was a successful day; no one got hurt, everyone worked hard, and we learned a lot about ourselves and our Nicaraguan brothers and sisters. Up to the point where they made me write the update for tonight, our students have never missed an opportunity to serve or be the hands and feet of Jesus. You would be so proud of them. DSC_0244
