YES Christmas Shopping and Parties

Every year Youth Encouragement Services hosts a Christmas Store where deserving families can come get Christmas presents for free. Each year they inevitably come up short on a couple of key items when all their donations are in and that’s when they call on us. The night before their Christmas Store they send us a detailed list of items they still need and we have the distinct honor of being last minute Santa to children in our community. It’s an incredible way for us to practice the heart of the Christmas season.

In previous years we have traveled to the Cool Springs Wal-Mart and shopped as lifegroups. Once all the shopping was done, the lifegroups go there seperate ways and have grade Christmas parties. It’s a really neat time and actually the first thing I ever did with WoodmontYG.

We’re going to do things a little differently this year and I wanted to give everyone a heads-up. Instead of traveling all the way to Cool Springs and renting one-hundred 12 passenger vans, we are going to go to the new Wal-Mart across the interstate from us. In leu of the 12 passengers we’re renting a 30 passenger van that we will use to shuttle students and lifeguards to and from Wal-Mart and the church.

We need to stager the grades shopping so that each grade isn’t trying to make all the purchases at once and so we can get the groups on their way to the Christmas parties. Lifeguards are planning the Christmas parties so, if you have questions regarding Lifegroup Christmas parties, please contact your student’s Lifeguards. Here’s the schedule for the YES Christmas shopping.

– 6th and 7th graders will need to be at Woodmont at 5:00 pm Friday, December 14th and will be shuttled to Wal-Mart at 5:15 pm. The shuttle will arrive back at Wal-Mart at 5:45 to return them to Woodmont at which time they are free to start their group Christmas party.

8th and 9th graders will need to be at Woodmont at 5:45pm Friday, December 14th and will be shuttled to Wal-Mart at 6:00 pm. The shuttle will arrive back at Wal-Mart at 6:45 to return them to Woodmont at which time they are free to start their group Christmas party.

– 10th and 11th graders will need to be at Woodmont at 6:15pm Friday, December 14th and will be shuttled to Wal-Mart at 6:30. The shuttle will arrive back at Wal-Mart at 7:15 to return them to Woodmont at which time they are free to start their group Christmas party.

– Seniors need to be at Woodmont at 7:00 pm.
