Nashville Workcamp Update

Workcamp Logo SquareNashville Workcamp 2013 is off to an incredible start!

  • Parents: Thank you for all your cooperation and help with picking up students this afternoon and working out carpools. This is a huge help to us! (For those of you who have asked to make afternoon arrangements for showers, please just let me know, and we’ll find a way help you out if you really need it.)
  • It’s amazing seeing our building filled with teenagers excited about serving in the name of the Lord! If you get the chance, feel free to join us on Thursday evening for worship at Woodmont. I’d love for you to experience it!
  • 19 different homeowners are being helped this week by nearly 300 teenagers from 17 churches.
  • Summer is here!… But it still feels like spring, so that’s awesome. (Everybody still needs to wear sunscreen though)
  • I’m so honored to be a part of a church that would open its doors for such a great cause. I’ve already been blessed by this experience, and I hope more of you get to see the fruit of Workcamp over the years to come!

How to Receive Travel Updates

Our youth group has the amazing opportunity to travel to different places for events like camp, retreats, mission trips, or otherwise. However, this often comes along with the possibility of travel delays or other outside circumstances that affect our schedule (today, being a prime example!).

So, how do you, as a parent, stay informed about arrival times and travel updates?

Here’s a couple options:

First and foremost, we will be using Yaptap for travel updates. Good news for those of you who have been unable to sign up for Yaptap in the past, there is now an easy-to-use sign-up page online.

Follow this link, and search for Woodmont Hills Student Ministry to get started.

Secondarily, we will use Twitter. And, we should also be able to get word to the church office about delays if you’d like to call Vera for updates.

These are the quickest ways to distribute updates from the road, so they will be the primary methods of communication in the event of a travel delay.

Beyond that, if you have not subscribed to this blog by clicking one of the “Follow” buttons, please do so. By choosing to follow the blog, you will receive an email update each time we post (you can also choose to receive a daily digest rather than multiple emails if we post more than once a day). This blog will almost always contain the most comprehensive and detailed information about our events and announcements.

Thank you all for staying in touch with us. We had an incredible weekend, and I’m so thankful to be able to serve such an amazing group of students.

WE LOVE IMPACT!

Just one day down at IMPACT 2012, and we are LOVIN’ it!

We’ve been learning some great lessons about the theme “Stranger than Fiction.” Essentially exploring how the story of Christ may seem strange compared to the fictional stories the world tries to teach us. However, we are a people directed by God, following his script, working with a cast of characters that He has selected.

The verse we keep returning to is II Corinthians 3:2-6, where Paul writes that we are the letter from Christ to the world. We are the representation of the living Christ left here on earth. It’s a beautiful message, and I can’t wait to see it take root in our hearts this weekend!

IMPACT has transformed Allen Arena into a town from the 1950′s complete with a diner and drive-in movie theater, quite a spectacle! And there will be tons more fun, worship, and teaching to come, but… for now… I leave you with something very special…
