Reserve your spot for IMPACT!

IMPACT 2013Attention 6th-8th graders!

Starting today, you can reserve your spot for IMPACT 2013 by making a $25 non-refundable deposit. Please write a check with the student’s name and “IMPACT” in the memo line and drop it in one of the black mailboxes.

Once you make your deposit, you will be guaranteed a spot at IMPACT this summer (June 14-17). Forms and final payment will be due by May 5th, and the deposit will be deducted from the $175 total cost of IMPACT.

If you don’t make a deposit, we won’t know that you’re planning to go and won’t be able to promise you a spot. So, if you plan to attend IMPACT this summer, please reserve your spot ASAP!

Soup-er Bowl XLVII!

souperbowlOn February 3rd, we will again be hosting a “Soup-er Bowl” party, and you’re invited!

Beginning at 5pm, we will have pizza, snacks, drinks, MarioKart, and, of course, football.

The cost of admission will be 5 or more canned foods that will be donated to people in need. Last year we were able to collect over 400 cans, and we’d love to top that this year!

Hope to see you there!

RESOLUTION – January 27th

2013Mark your calendars for the first annual RESOLUTION to be held on January 27th at 5:00pm  in the Great Hall.

RESOLUTION is a time for families to come hear about WoodmontYG’s goals, hopes, and dreams for 2013. We’ll be announcing all our summer events as well, so everyone will want to be present for that. Both parents and students are encouraged to attend.
Pizza will be provided.

Hope you can make it!

And the Winners are…

Decided by non-biased judges whose very identity is shrouded in secrecy, this year’s WoodmontYG Trunk-or-Treat winners are….

THE 7TH GRADE – Hunger Games! Congratulations 7th grade you will be going bowling on us!

And the winners of the High School division and recipients of a 2 hour Jump SkyHigh party are… The Seniors – Noah’s Ark!

To everyone else, you should be so proud of yourselves. The trunks were awesome and I got so many pictures of so many children having a great time, which is what this all was really about.

The Bridge: The Fully-Renovated Photo Gallery

Woodmont’s 6th-8th graders officially have a new home! And, if I do say so myself… it’s also officially the coolest spot in the whole church :)

Starting tomorrow at 9am, we launch The Bridge Middle School Ministry on the second floor of the West Hall!

Check out to the slideshow above to see a couple “before” and several “after” shots from the renovation that’s taken place over the past couple weeks.

See you tomorrow morning!

Introducing: The Bridge Middle School Ministry

The time has finally arrived! Please join me in celebrating the arrival of The Bridge Middle School Ministry!

For over a year now, wise leaders at Woodmont Hills have felt a call to invest more fully in the middle school (6th-8th grade) members of our church body. This time between elementary and high school has its place in most educational systems, but we often fail to give early adolescents the support, time, and attention they deserve in the church world.

We have been slowly transitioning towards having a fully functioning and independent middle school ministry over the past several months, and this Sunday, August 12th, we will finally see its official launch!

As the Woodmont Hills Middle School Ministry, The Bridge will seek to not only bridge the gap between elementary and high school ministry, but we will (more importantly) seek to bridge the divides between Heaven and earth, the Church and the world.

In short, The Bridge will be about what Woodmont Hills is about: Loving God, loving each other, and serving the world.

This sunday, the 12th, 6th-8th graders will be meeting in Room 206 in the West Hall at 9am for Sunday classes. We will all meet together and then split up into LifeGroups with our amazing LifeGuards.

Wednesday night programming will continue to be 6th-12th grade in the youth area downstairs in the East Hall.

Parents of 6th grade students, please also note that 6th graders are invited to attend the Fall Retreat, September 7-9 (registration will begin soon).

As always, stay tuned for more ministry updates, announcements, and information here at WoodmontYG.com, and subscribe to receive email updates by clicking the “+Follow” button!

Victory in Appalachia Day!

Pictured (L-R): Taylor Moseley, Olivia Shumate, and Ethan Harris: Professional Wilderness Conquerors

As expected, the hills, mountains, cliffs, mountain cougars, raging white waters, biting goats, and rivers of lava have proved no match for our fearless adventurers.

Not only will our team of rugged expeditioneers be returning victorious, they will be returning almost a full day ahead of schedule. Take that, Mother Nature.

The team will now stop in the bustling metropolis of Franklin, North Carolina to feast like royalty and be showered with riches (and water and soap and stuff, hopefully), before mounting the mighty steeds that will carry them home to the hordes of admirers awaiting their return.

We can likely expect them around 4pm, or roughly thirty seconds after hearing the sonic boom and fifteen seconds after seeing fire streak through the sky.

Happy V-A Day! (I’ll post updates if the group’s ETA changes at all.)

Info for Sunday, July 8th

There is no youth class tomorrow morning at 9am.

Registration for camp will begin at 1:30 and the busses will leave at 2pm. Please do not show up for registration any later than 1:45!

Registration will be taking place in the lobby of youth offices (in the “White House”). If you are unfamiliar with the offices, go into the small courtyard between the White House and the Main building, and there should be someone there to direct you.

Please bring any remaining release forms with you to registration. We must have all waivers completed before the camper can board the bus.

Campers do not need to bring cell phones. They won’t work at camp, and they will be taken up if a counselor sees one being used.
Campers should bring a bottle for water, white clothes that may get dirty, sun screen, closed-toe shoes, a Bible, a notebook, a pen, anything they might need for a talent show act, and the other items noted on the packing list.

If you have any other questions, please leave them in the comment section below.

IMPACT Pick-Up

IMPACT campers should be picked up from their respective dorms (Fanning for girls, High Rise for guys) at or before 9:30am tomorrow.
