Parents of IMPACT campers: Check-out is between 7:00 & 9:30am tomorrow morning from their respective dorms (Guys: High Rise, Girls: Fanning). So, make sure your student is picked up by 9:30 at the absolute latest.

If you don’t happen to see me (Jesse), that’s ok, just make sure your student is officially checked out of his/her dorm and has gotten back their $20 housing deposit, then you’re good to go!

IMPACT Packing List

Bring a sleeping bag or sheets, pillow, personal items, towels, regular camp clothes, $20 for a room key deposit (refunded at checkout), personal spending money, and a Bible.

You may also want to bring a tennis racket, ball glove, raquetball racket, frisbee, or a guitar.

Radios, TV’s, laser pointers, electronics such as ipods, DVD players, Ipads, computers etc. are not permitted. These items can easily be lost or stolen.

Alcohol, drugs (your counselor should be notified of any prescription drugs you are taking), fireworks,laser pointers, or any type of weapon are not allowed on campus. Any of these items will be taken by an IMPACT Staff person and held until the camper leaves at the end of IMPACT.

Don’t forget, we’re hanging out with the Albany group at 5:30pm on Thursday.

Girls bring desserts or snacks.
Guys bring drinks.
Parents of those going on the mission trip, stick around to meet Tommy Johnson who we will be working with in Albany.

Mission Albany Backpack Drive

Beginning June 16th, The Bridge Middle School Ministry will be collecting backpacks full of school supplies for the students we are going to serve in Albany, Georgia this summer.

Mission Change, the organization we will be working alongside June 30th-July 5th, is currently collecting backpacks and school supplies for the families they work with. So, we’re calling on our families with middle schoolers to help us provide this blessing to the people we’re going to meet in Albany. This is a great way to participate in our mission even if you’re unable to travel with us.

Here’s what we need:

1 Backpack (to be used by children in Pre-K through 5th or 6th grade.) containing the following…

1 Pack of Crayons, colored pencils, or markers*
1 Pack of #2 pencils
1 Glue stick
1 Pack of wide-ruled notebook paper (or) Kindergarten letter paper*
1 Pair of safety scissors
3 Three-pronged folders with pockets in Red, Yellow, or Blue

*If you choose a small child’s backpack, please tend towards items geared towards a younger child (i.e. Crayons rather than colored pencils, and Kindergarten paper rather than wide-ruled).

If you are unable to collect all these items, partial donations will also be accepted. However, we would like for all the backpacks to contain the same items, so please provide all items listed if possible.

On June 29th at 11:30am, we will be having a packing party with our Albany mission team where we will sort these bags and discuss the upcoming week. This meeting is mandatory, so please plan to be there.

High School Roller Derby

This Saturday join Drue Clark, Carly Kendrick, and David and Kristin Sessions to watch the Nashville Roller Girls take on Tallahassee in a double header. Tickets are $10 in advance, and the vendors only accept cash. So you can bring $10 (cash!!) to Drue or Carly on Wednesday night, and they will buy your ticket in advance for you, or you can go purchase your own in advance. Otherwise tickets are $15 at the door. Do not buy tickets online! They will be more expensive!

We will meet at Woodmont at 4:45 on Saturday and carpool to the Municipal Auditorium together.

Pre-IMPACT Party!

Our friends from Albany, Georgia will be joining us for IMPACT again this year, and they’re arriving this Thursday!

That means a couple things for us…

If you’re in middle school, come hang out with us at 5:30! We’ll play games, eat foods, and get to know our friends from Albany.
- Girls: Please bring desserts or snacks
- Guys: Please bring drinks
If you’re going on the middle school mission trip, don’t miss this! We’ll be seeing these people again this summer.
- Parents of those going on the trip, stick around for the first 15 minutes or so to get a chance to hear from Tommy Johnson (youth minister at Westwood Church in Albany) about what we’ll be doing when we go down to their neck of the woods!

Hope you can all make it! If you or your student is going on the mission trip, but can’t be there, don’t worry, more information will be coming out in the next week or two.

We will be meeting at 11am by the Allen Bell Tower where I will give you your wristbands (necessary for getting into meals and sessions), notebooks, schedules, and room assignments. From there, students will check into dorms and eat lunch before the first session at 1:15pm.

Each student needs to bring $20 in cash for a room deposit. This money will be refunded upon check-out if the room has been returned to its original state.

Nashville Workcamp Update

Nashville Workcamp 2013 is off to an incredible start!

Parents: Thank you for all your cooperation and help with picking up students this afternoon and working out carpools. This is a huge help to us! (For those of you who have asked to make afternoon arrangements for showers, please just let me know, and we’ll find a way help you out if you really need it.)

It’s amazing seeing our building filled with teenagers excited about serving in the name of the Lord! If you get the chance, feel free to join us on Thursday evening for worship at Woodmont. I’d love for you to experience it!

19 different homeowners are being helped this week by nearly 300 teenagers from 17 churches.

Summer is here!… But it still feels like spring, so that’s awesome. (Everybody still needs to wear sunscreen though)

I’m so honored to be a part of a church that would open its doors for such a great cause. I’ve already been blessed by this experience, and I hope more of you get to see the fruit of Workcamp over the years to come!

Workcamp is going to look a little different this year than it has in years past now that we are hosting most of it at Woodmont for the first time ever.

Here are some of the ways it will affect the daily schedule:

In the mornings: Drop your students off at Woodmont before 8am for the Morning Wake-UP.
In the afternoons: Pick students up from Woodmont at 3pm to go home and clean up.*
In the evenings…
- Sunday: Drop off at Woodmont between 4 and 4:30pm
- Monday: Drop off at Lipscomb’s Bennett Campus Center between 5:30 and 6pm.
- Tuesday: Drop off at Lipscomb’s Bennett Campus Center between 5:30 and 6pm.
- Wednesday: Drop off at Lipscomb’s Bennett Campus Center between 5:30 and 6pm.
- Thursday: Drop off at Woodmont between 5:30 and 6pm.
- Friday: Drop off at Lipscomb’s Bennett Campus Center between 5:30 and 6pm.
Nightly pick-up will be from Lipscomb Academy’s Acuff Chapel Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Sunday and Thursday it will be from Woodmont. Pick-up most nights will be around 8:30pm.

We are hosting dinner on Sunday and Thursday night, and we are responsible for providing drinks and desserts on Sunday. High school students and their families are taking care of desserts, and middle school students and their families should each bring two 2-liter sodas on Sunday morning. Don’t forget!

*We will need to know if you are unable to get your student home during this time, and they are also unable to go home with a friend. Please contact us to let us know if we need to make other arrangements for your student during the afternoon.

Cost: $10 to help cover the cost of the books.

Size: This class is limited to 20 students.

This class will be looking at the New York Times Bestseller, “Love Does” by Bob Goff.

Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary are the only four women Matthew mentions in the forty-two generations separating Abraham from Jesus. Each of these women are wrapped in their own scandal which we will be learning and discussing each Sunday morning.

There are as many different styles of worship as there are people on this planet, but why do we do what we do? Perhaps more importantly, what is worship, and how can we move beyond going through the motions to truly make praise our habit?
Join us this summer to explore the meaning and practice of worship.

We just spent 31 weeks studying a story about God loving and living with his people. Throughout The Story we emphasized how important it was to know that these are just the beginning 31 chapters and that God is still writing our story today. So for the Sundays in the summer we will have a different guest speaker who will come and tell us their story of how God has loved and lived with them. You will also get a chance to ask them questions about their stories and interact with each speaker.
