Service Opportunity

Hadley Hilgenhurst has brought us a really easy and great way to help out a family in need. Hadley is raising toys for the children of a family who has lost their house and many of their possessions to a fire.

They family has two girls who are six and could use; Barbie Dolls, Barbie House and furniture, Barbie cars, Dress-up clothes (sizes 6-8), baby dolls, strollers, games, or books.

They also have a four year old boy who could use; a scooter, “Cars” sleeping bag or air mattress, Spiderman or other superhero toys, etc…

Our Seniors are Graduating!

Image

No, not those kind Seniors! Our Woodmont High School Seniors are graduating soon and Sunday May 6th is Senior Sunday. We really want to honor them and bless them as they enter a new chapter of their lives. So, we won’t be having Sunday morning class time downstairs, instead we want everyone to come be apart of the service upstairs. Here’s the coolest part; not only will you see them honored during our blessing time, they are helping me and Jesse plan and put on the whole service! I’ll (Dave) be preaching, a bunch of people have already agreed to help Robin lead worship and several of our seniors will be reading scripture, praying, and leading communion thoughts! Essentially we’ve made Senior Sunday all about our Student Ministry and honoring our Seniors. So, again, please come upstairs and be apart of supporting us and worshiping with us.

This Sunday

Remember gang, this Sunday we are not having class because of our fundraiser downstairs. That doesn’t mean we don’t want you to come, just the opposite! You should just know that if you show up, we’re going to put you to work!

Also, please remember, we’ve asked the guys to bring Orange Juice and the girls to bring 2% or fat free milk.

Peace
Dave

Lead Worship With Us On “Senior Sunday”

Do it because no one in their right mind could say "no" to this face.

Hey singers!

Who is willing to serve on the praise team/choir for the student-led “Senior Sunday” on May 6th? Please email me at jbaker@woodmont.org to express interest and let me know what part you sing (bass, tenor, alto, or soprano).

I’d love to get as many of you involved as possible (not limited to the usual, 8-person praise team), so don’t be shy about asking!

Thank you, and I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

FUNdraiser!

Next week, April 29th, we will not be having class as usual in the youth area. Instead, we will be using that time to prepare for our first annual, Breakfast-for-Lunch WoodmontYG fundraiser. So, teenagers, if you are doing anything with the youth this summer and you would like to see the pice of activities drop ever so slightly, please think about coming downstairs Sunday April 29th to help out with Breakfast-for-Lunch. Just know that instead of class, we’re going to put you to work

Camp Sign Up

Today’s Summer Sign Up announcement is for camp! If you would like to come to camp this year sign up at the information desk outside The Great Hall. There is a $100 dollar deposit due May 26th but you do not have to have the deposit when you sign up. Full Payment will be due June 16th. Hooray Camp!

Resurrection People

Image

Starting this week we are going to be talking about what it means to be people of Jesus’ Resurrection on Sunday mornings. Last week we talked about how, just by the mere fact we call ourselves Christians, we believe some pretty crazy things. I want us to start asking ourselves, “What do I really believe about Jesus?” and “What does that change about me?”

Sign Up for Nashville Workcamp!

Nashville Workcamp is a fantastic event that David and I have been blessed to be a part of over the past several years. It’s a great opportunity to not only serve our neighbors by doing house painting, yard work, etc., it’s also a great opportunity to serve  with our neighbors as we work alongside hundreds of students and adults from several area churches.

This year’s Workcamp will be held June 3-8, and we have reserved 25 spots for any current 7th-12th grade students that would like to attend.

You can reserve a spot, first-come, first-served, by emailing vphipps@woodmont.org.

Cost is $130.*  Forms and payment need to be in by April 29th.
Visit the Forms page at the top of the site to find the application and waiver.

Each student will be responsible for bringing his/her own 4″ paint brush, spray bottle, heavy duty paint scraper, and work gloves. We will also need to borrow ladders (step and extension) for the week, so if you have ladders we can borrow, please let us know.

Please email, call, or comment on this post if you have any questions.

*(checks payable to Woodmont Hills)
